Sales Executive

Location: Felixstowe, Southampton, Essex or Cannock (flexible location)

Salary: Competitive

We are currently recruiting for a permanent Sales Executive to join our UK Commercial Team. As a Sales Executive you will develop business growth, achieve commercial targets, financial budgets and manage the customer base sales activities for Pentalver and Freightliner (part of Genesee and Wyoming Company).

This is a permanent, full-time position (flexible location). A successful candidate must be willing to travel extensively within the UK. 

Key responsibilities of the Sales Executive:


  • Targeting and developing new business opportunities to deliver growth in line with the commercial strategy
  • Targeting & building a healthy sales pipeline of new business to develop and converting new opportunities into business wins using tools such as CRM and sales pipeline.
  • Customer service development with key customers & business growth within the existing customer base
  • Regular service reviews with customers and depots
  • Carrying out specific projects to support the commercial strategy, revenue growth, business development
  • Liaising and networking with a range of stakeholders – Internal & external
  • Involvement in quotations and tenders
  • Negotiating rates and rate increases & ensure rates are communicated, filed and managed within company processes.
  • Develop / maintain and update customer/rate databases
  • Producing documents, briefing papers, reports and presentations
  • Attending external meetings with customers, with an agreed KPI on monthly visits

 Requirements of the Sales Executive:


  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the UK
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Effective sales and commercial awareness skills & the ability to identify, target and win new business
  • Experience of the Transport and Logistics industry
  • Effective team player - highly adaptable & flexible
  • Embraces change ,innovative and displays strong  leadership skills
  • Ability work effectively across all levels of the Company and  build strong internal and external business relationships
  • Excellent  presentation skills with the ability to produce clear and concise reports
  • Organised and able to prioritise, work well under pressure, while maintaining high accuracy
  • Attention to detail
  • Numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data/ information and produce clear and logical format
  • Proactive, innovative and creative approach
  • Motivated self-starter, used to working on own initiative, but also with a team mind-set
  • Good IT skills including MS Office and Outlook
