Driver Trainer

Location: Southampton

Salary: Competitive

This is a permanent, full time position working 40 hours per week

Pentalver Transport is an award winning container logistics company with over 30 years’ experience.  We are currently recruiting for a permanent Driver Trainer to join our Transport team in Southampton. As a Driver Trainer you will be responsible for training new and existing employees on HGV/LGV, forklift and H&S.

Key responsibilities of the Driver Trainer:


  • Organise and deliver training to meet legislation, awarding body standard and company policy.
  • Complete HGV/LGV, forklift and health and safety training.
  • Recruit, assess and induct all new drivers.
  • Carry out and complete Accident Investigation Forms.
  • Maintain records for training in accordance with company policy and awarding body standard, particularly keeping licences up to date.
  • Deliver and maintain an effective induction process.
  • Perform spot checks and audits on a regular basis to ensure training is effective.
  • Support HSSE site checks, reporting anything dangerous or potentially dangerous.
  • Perform training on a one to one basis / in groups with internal and external customers.
  • Support compliance processes, procedure, ensuring a proactive approach to meet strict standards.
  • Observe and understand all risk assessments applicable to your area and the safe systems of work, constantly observe employees to ensure that they are conducting themselves correctly in this regard.

Requirements of the Driver Trainer:


  • Hold relevant teaching qualifications
  • HGV/LGV & Forklift experience
  • C&E licence / Digi card licence / DCPP card / SAFED qualified
  • Confident delivery style
  • Personable, with the desire to make a difference
  • Proactive, innovative and creative approach to problem solving
  • A mature approach to HSSE and training
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Effective persuasive skills, with the ability to challenge and change attitudes
  • The ability to critically evaluate others
  • The ability to ensure records are maintained, with attention to detail
